At the end of my second year at UWE, I was lucky enough to partake in an internship at Aardman Features for 3 weeks. For 2 weeks I worked with the Assistant Animators, sculpting mouth shapes for some of the characters in the Shaun the Sheep feature film and in the last week, I was allowed to do some test animation with one of the puppets from Pirates! An Adventure with Scientists. Above is the culmination of a weeks worth of animating, attempting to refine my actions each time. I subsequentally went on to be employed by Aardman throughout the summer acting as Trainee Assistant Animator, which was just incredible!
A compilation of test and actual footage from my 2nd year stop-motion production "Not Now Nigel!". I acted as the Director, Art Director, Puppet Maker and Lead Animator.
A swift exercise in dynamic motion. A small puppet pulling a rock. This exercise was to show an understanding of weight distribution and recovery after and during an action.
A short flash animation focussing on Lip Synch. I voiced and animated the character of Patrice the Snail, and my friend Niall Mahon voiced and animated the character of Nevermore the Magpie.
An early animation made using one of my first armatured puppets. Rough, but it was good fun :)
